Robert A. “Bob” Glenn


Robert A. “Bob” Glenn joined Air Force Federal Credit Union (AFFCU) in May 2006 as President and CEO and has moved the credit union forward with strategic planning, improved services and competitive products to AFFCU members in San Antonio, TX and around the world. Bob Glenn has been working in the credit union industry for over 20 years, becoming a strong advocate for the credit union movement and setting a standard of excellence in service.

In his 14 years as CEO of AFFCU, the credit union has grown from $221 million to $516 million in assets. He has led the growth in opening branches in Del Rio, TX and Columbus, MS and the credit union now serves members in all 50 states. His focus on supporting the JBSA-San Antonio installations and the surrounding military community were recognized by the DoD, which awarded AFFCU Air Force Credit Union of the year in 2013 and 2018.

Mr. Glenn has over 45 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining AFFCU he spent the previous 16 years at ORNL Federal Credit Union in Oak Ridge, TN. As Senior Vice President he oversaw a division that included Lending, Information Technology, Branch Network, Marketing and subsidiary business units, helping it grow to become the third largest credit union in Tennessee. In the 20 years preceding his service at ORNL FCU, Bob worked in commercial banking with a wide background of experience.

Throughout his career, he has compiled an extensive and distinguished record of assistance to the community. His current volunteer service includes being on the Board of Directors for the Rotary Club of San Antonio –West, serving on the Membership Committee for the National Association of Federal Credit Unions, serving as a math tutor at Lopez Middle School, teaching financial literacy classes in his activity with the Alamo Area Consumer Education Partnership and routinely participating in the Reading Program at Jerry D. Allen Elementary School. Formerly, Bob taught classes for Junior Achievement in San Antonio and in Knoxville, TN; served as Treasurer of Consumer Credit Counseling Service of East Tennessee; Region III Advisory Committee Member for NAFCU; past chairman of the Alamo Area Consumer Education Partnership; past President of the Rotary Club of San Antonio –West, former member of the NAFCU Region IV Advisory Committee; former member of the TCUL Governmental Affairs Committee; and former Secretary of the Credit Union Executive Society (CUES) Greater Southern Council.

Mr. Glenn received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga and his Master in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee. He also earned his Certificate Chief Executive designation through the Credit Union Executives Society’s CEO Institute. He is also a graduate of the School of Banking of the South, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA and the Tennessee Young Bankers School, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN.

He and his wife, Marilyn, are proud parents of three children: one son, Robert II who is a pilot in the USAF, and two daughters, Elizabeth and Emily. They also have nine grandchildren.
