Wendell Cornish


Wendell Ray Cornish, CMSgt, USAF (Ret), serves as Treasurer for the Airman Heritage Foundation and manages Board finances and budgeting. He enlisted in the Navy and served for four years as a Machinist Mate 3rd Class Petty Officer before transferring to the Air Force where he served until he retired after 26 years of military service. Cornish was an Air Force Electronic Warfare Technician for 15 years providing Bomber EW protection at several SAC installations to include during the Cuban Missile Crisis, Bomber EW penetration for Air Defense Command in testing the NORAD/USAF Air Defense System, aircraft protection in Southeast Asia and intelligence collection at USAFE headquarters in Germany. He retrained into the Manpower field and developed rated manpower models and requirements at SAC and headed the development of plans for SAC aircrews and staff for the B-1B Lancer. Upon retiring from the Air Force, he became a civilian employee of the Army and served for 17 years as a Manpower Officer, finally retiring in 2001 with 41 years of DOD service. Cornish joined the AHF Board in 2010.
