Foundation Partners with Joint Base Charleston for 77th Air Force Ball

The 628th Air Base Wing at Joint Base Charleston invited the Airman Heritage Foundation (AHF) to support their 77th Air Force Anniversary Ball on September 21st at the Charleston Marriott in Charleston, SC.  The event’s theme “Hiking Through History” allowed the AHF to showcase history that spotlighted the Air Mobility Command (AMC) through a “Hall of Heroes” static display and with the help of Living History Heritage players. The AMC “Hall of Heroes” static display recognized unsung heroes along the corridor and in the social hour foyer while Living History volunteers represented various AMC heroes from World War II through the 1970’s.

“It was a big success” according to Dave Shultz, AHF Outreach Program Manager. “The Wing Commander Col. Parker personally tracked me down before and after the event and thanked us profusely for bringing AMC history to life in such a unique and fascinating way,” Shultz added, “It was a team effort with the Airman Heritage Museum supplying the decade and Hap Arnold pop-ups along with mannequins and other fixtures, all of which created the nostalgic theme the Wing’s Air Force Ball team was shooting for.”  Additionally, the wing supplied a team of “volunteers” to move boxes, fixtures, and signage back and forth. Once again, our mission was carried out in an impactful way leaving an indelible impression on all those in attendance.
