Honoring K9 Heroes with ‘Heroic Tails from WWII to Today’

Airman Heritage Foundation Highlights Military Working Dog History at National Museum of the Pacific War Event

On Saturday, March 29, 2025, the Airman Heritage Foundation (AHF) proudly participated in “Military Working Dogs: Heroic Tails from WWII to Today,” a family-friendly event hosted by the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Chris Dion, representing the AHF and the Military Working Dog Teams National Monument, engaged with attendees to share the Foundation’s mission and spotlight the historical contributions of military working dogs. Dion’s presence emphasized the Foundation’s commitment to preserving the rich history of canine warriors — unsung heroes of American military history.

The day featured a range of interactive and entertaining activities, including a military dog costume contest, obstacle course, puppy portraits, and sweet treats for humans and pups alike. A highlight of the event was a book signing with RJ Nevens, author of Walking Point.

Through its collaboration with the National Museum of the Pacific War, the AHF helped educate the public on the enduring bond between service members and their working dogs—highlighting how these four-legged warriors have served bravely across decades of military operations.

Participating in events like this allows the AHF to extend its outreach and honor all who have served—whether on two legs or four.
